In an effort to enhance the delivery of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) and provide better outcomes for participants, a new computer system has been developed and significant improvements have been made to existing processes.
The gradual roll out of the new computer system and updated processes is scheduled to begin on October 30, 2023, pending a final assessment to ensure its readiness for implementation nationwide.
Participants and their families are not required to take any action at this time, as further support will be provided as they prepare for their next plan reassessment.
Extensive testing of the improvements was conducted in Tasmania from November 2022 to March 2023. Feedback from participants, providers, staff, and partners involved in the testing process was crucial in ensuring that the enhancements functioned as intended before being introduced on a national scale.
A cautious approach will be taken in the introduction of the new system to ensure a smooth transition. It is anticipated that it will take approximately 18 months for all current NDIS providers & participants to migrate to the new computer system.
These updates aim to streamline processes, improve service delivery, and ultimately enhance the overall experience for NDIS participants. Stay tuned for further updates as we work towards a more efficient and effective NDIS delivery system.
